Titanium tube heat exchangers are suitable for a wide range of environments and chemical conditions due to a thin, invisible, but highly protective surface oxide film (primarily TiO2).

Titanium is particularly known for its high resistance to localized attack and stress corrosion cracking in aqueous chlorides (e.g., brines, seawater) and other wet halides and halogens (e.g., wet Cl2 or Cl2-sat, brines) and in hot, highly oxidizing acid solutions (e.g., FeCl3 and nitric acid solutions).

Titanium is also recognized for its superior resistance to erosion, corrosion, cavitation, and the impact of turbulent fluids. Titanium shell and tube heat exchangers are fully welded. They can withstand high working pressure. This avoids the need for seal replacement and saves more time and money on maintenance or cleaning.
